Accommodation

Contingents of rooms have been reserved at the Novotel Erlangen, which is the closest hotel to the Symposium (150m) at a Symposium price of € 88 per night (with breakfast) and at the Hotel NH (600m from the Symposium) for € 89 per night (with breakfast). For reservations at these two hotels, please send an e-mail to ccc-pvrs@fau.de stating your arrival and departure dates, room occupancy and hotel preference.

Other hotels are the Bayerischer Hof (also very close to the Symposium), Quality Hotel Erlangen (about 30 minutes’ walk). For those with cars, the Ibis Budget Hotel Nürnberg Tennenlohe, which is in Tennenlohe, between Erlangen and Nuremberg and the Best Western Hotel Aurora in Hessdorf, adjacent to the Autobahn exit Erlangen West, are also suitable. Please reserve these four hotels directly on their own web sites or a hotel portal. The Symposium has not negotiated a special rate with them.

Travel to Erlangen

By air: It is most convenient to fly to Nuremberg airport, usually via Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam or Zurich, but with direct connections to many European cities. The airport lies between Erlangen and Nuremberg. Taxis to Erlangen cost € 30-40. The U-Bahn (U2) takes approximately 15 minutes from the airport to Nuremberg main station (trains every 10 minutes), from which there are connections to Erlangen about every 20 minutes.

By train: There are regular connections from Nuremberg Main Station, where most inter-city trains stop, to Erlangen. There is a direct ICE connection from Frankfurt Airport to Nuremberg. Connections to Munich Airport are slightly less convenient; the S1 and S8 connect the airport to Munich main station (approximately 45 minutes), from which a very fast ICE connects to Nuremberg with further connections to Erlangen. Erlangen main station is 10-15 minutes’ walk from the Novotel and Hotel NH.

By car: Erlangen lies on the A3/A9 Autobahn from Frankfurt to Munich. Leave the A3 at the Kreuz Fürth/Erlangen onto the A73 (towards Bamberg) and use the exit Erlangen Zentrum for the city-center hotels (Erlangen Nord for the Quality Hotel Erlangen). The Ibis Budget Hotel Nürnberg Tennenlohe and the Best Western Hotel Aurora are located on the A3 adjacent to the exits Tennenlohe and Erlangen West, respectively. On a good day, they are 15 minutes’ drive from the Symposium but allow more time for traffic. The closest reasonable parking to the Symposium is the Apcoa Parkhaus Henkestrasse.
